NFF sack Stephen Keshi as Super Eagles coach.

    Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, has sack Keshi again as the head coach of Nigeria national men team, The Super eagles. 

    Stephen Keshi, 53, whose contract expired after the 2014 World Cup was into his second spell as the Super Eagles coach after holding the position from 2011. A statement from the federation’s technical committee said that Keshi who was hired 2 months ago got fired based on disciplinary grounds.

    Keshi has been under fire since the report broke out he had applied for the vacant Ivorian job. A move many football analyst consider unprofessional. The statement by the NFF Executive Committee on Saturday read in part,
    “having thoroughly reviewed the reports/findings of the NFF Disciplinary Committee and NFF Technical and Development Committee, as well as having reviewed the actions and inactions of Mr. Stephen Keshi, in the performance of his duties as Super Eagles’ Head Coach, which we found to lack the required commitment to achieve the Federation’s objectives as set out in the Coach’s employment contract.”
    “To this end and pursuant to the provisions of Clause 4.3 of the Employment Contract between Mr. Stephen Keshi and the NFF (The Contract) and the various clauses therein, the Nigeria Football Federation has decided to exercise its option to summarily terminate the employment contract of Mr. Stephen Keshi with the Federation with immediate effect.”

    • Coach Shuaibu Amodu takes over as interim coach.

    The NFF also appeal to Nigerians to remain calm as Coach Shuaibu Amodu, The NFF technical director, will take charge at an interim capacity until a replacement is found.

    “In the interim, the Super Eagles’ team affairs will be jointly managed by Assistant Coach Salisu Yusuf and the Technical Directorate of the NFF, headed by Coach Shuaibu Amodu, until the Federation names in due course a new Head Coach, who, along with the NFF will chart a new direction for the Super Eagles to ensure credible participation in international competitions and assist in building a sustainable football culture for the country,” said Barrister Seyi Akinwunmi, The NFF first vice president.

    Keshi won the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa with the Super Eagles but has been on clashes with the NFF since then.

    However, the Super Eagles will on 14 November travel to take on Congo, who defeated them in Calabar in September 2014, before they face Group A leaders South Africa at home on 19 November in Uyo, Akwa Ibom.
