The Chief of Defense staff of Nigeria, Cameron, Chad, Niger Republic as well as heads of Intelligence and Security Agencies of the African countries met in Abuja yesterday to discuss the successful operation of the modified version of the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) in the fight against Boko Haram in the region. Troops from Nigeria, Chad, Niger and Cameroon have been fighting Boko Haram insurgents in northeast Nigeria for several months and have claimed many of successes.

“If there is any time for us to rise in one voice irrespective of our differences, it is now,” he added.
The long-awaited Multi-National Joint Task Force, which was due to have been operational in November, has its headquarters in Chad’s capital, N’Djamena, under a senior Nigerian officer.
The meeting is Preparatory to the Extra-Ordinary Summit of Heads of State and Governments of the LCBC member countries in furtherance of the multilateral discussion on counterterrorism operations in the sub-region.

The development is sequel to the recent parleys and contacts between Nigeria’s President and his counter-parts in the sub-region in the move to step up the fight against terror.
