INEC has announced the rescheduled Brass Constituency II poll as inconclusive after the Returning Officer (RO) for the rescheduled poll, Perekere Bertola, had earlier declared the candidate of All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, Mr Alfred Watson, as winner of the poll.

According to the result declared at about 5am on Sunday morning by the Returning Officer and a Lecturer in the State owned University, Niger Delta University, Mr. Perekere Bertola, announced that out of the 2,805 accredited voters, the APGA candidate scored 849. The PDP candidate scored 380 and APC scored 476 votes.

The rescheduled election was said to be marred by allegations of hijack of election materials and voters apathy due to shooting by gunmen suspected to be hired thugs and without reaction from hundreds of security personnel in that area.

INEC in a statement by its Public Relations Officer, Timidi Wariowei, in Yenagoa, declared that the last Saturday’s House of Assembly rescheduled elections in Brass Constituency II was inconclusive.

Following the decision of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to declare the rescheduled Brass II constituency election inconclusive, groups within the ruling People’s Democratic Party, PDP, and All Progressives Congress, APC, has called on the APGA candidate, Mr Alfred Watson, to stop parading himself as the winner of the rescheduled election.

Some of the supporters of the APGA candidate had claimed that attempt by suspected PDP supporters to allegedly collude with the security personnel and hijack the voting materials and declare the election inconclusive, was thwarted by irate youths from the constituency.
